Water Borders follow up their releases on Hungry for Power and Disaro with “Drippings”, a strange framework of super spare electronic dub, crumbling bits of distorted melody, metallic buzz and deep rumble. Sounding like a song suite of minimal and miserable electronic death ballads, the three tracks also have a soulful vibe to them, but Water Borders’ 'soul music' is something altogether more grim, mottled and murky. The music is stripped down and skeletal and the vocals veer from a DJ Screw-style syrupy drawl, to an almost Nick Cave sounding deep and dramatic croon. By turn hypnotic, disturbing and palpably erotic, the S.F. duo seems dead set on blazing its own confusional sonic path.
